One thing you need to know before shooting the slot canyons of Arizona. Bring a plastic bag! On this particular trip I ended up temporarily jamming up two cameras (one medium format film camera and a DSLR). The atmoshpere of the slot canyons is saturated with fine sand particles that will inevitably find there way into every nook and cranny of your gear. The other thing I learned is don't assume roads are always open. I was planning to go to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, but found that it was still closed because of heavy snowfall and wouldn't open until late May.
